Copper Head gaskets
trying to find out if there is enough interest out there to commission a batch of copper head gaskets.
price should be around $50 each I'm probably going to do 250 and 350 gaskets if there is enough interest.

Re: Copper Head gaskets
Am I right in saying that the copper head gaskets can be used a couple of times or is it a one off thing?
Deffinitelly has potential as $120.00 bucks for a genuine gasket is nuts and the aftermarket cheapies are a little on the thick side aswell as known to be dodgy on sealing sometimes.
Yes, interested party here!

Certainly interested. I also wonder, is copper less likely to warp?

Re: Copper Head gaskets
thanks for your replies, I'll get into this project next week. i was thinking of using .9mm copper sheet for the job.
as far as warping goes, I've not heard of it and i would think the head and barrels would prevent that from happening.
stay tuned...

Re: Copper Head gaskets
UPDATE:
I have the material and the cnc is currently under way with the water jetters. Should be available by the end of next week, but bear with me.
I am making half of the batch 250cc and the other half 350cc. The total batch depends on the available area of material at this time...
I don't know if these gaskets are prone to warping, but I havn't heard of it. I do know the gasket can be re-used , it just has to be annealed with an oxy set or a burnzamatic plumbers tool. No more head gaskets!
BTW, I pulled apart an old racing LC engine this afternoon and I was surprised to see an aftermarket gasket with what looks like Loctite 515 sealant on it and the bike used to run well. It also looks like the squish band has been cut into the head...
here is the stock combustion chamber
